Apart from showing just how comfy they are, dogs also yawn when they want to communicate something else. A dog that yawns in public might be one that is exhausted and in need of an afternoon nap. It might show discomfort and anxiety too. It would be good to keep this in mind when you see your dog doing this often when they are somewhere unfamiliar.

People have a tendency to talk in a higher pitch when talking to a dog. When you do this, your dog might tilt their head in an effort to understand you. Dogs are actually amazing at reading and responding to body language and vocal cues. They can learn instructions and understand reprimands. In fact, they also recognize some words and might be waiting for the ones they associate with treats and walks! One theory says that they position their heads that way so that their outer ears can comprehend you better.
