The doctor was aware of the slanderous accusations and advised Brianna to consider hiring a bodyguard to protect herself and the baby. Brianna was taken aback. It certainly wouldn’t be necessary. Richard was assigned to watch after them both. Richard was enraged by Brianna and Bobby’s treatment and relieved to have both of them out of the gossipy maternity unit and back home. Neither parent anticipated that their son’s reactions would become far more intense.

Brianna sought to live a regular life once she had been out of the hospital for a few weeks and had recovered from her injuries. Bobby was doing well, and she didn’t want to keep him hidden away. She and Bobby went for a walk one day when the older children were in nursery and Richard was at work. She walked out confidently, attempting to collect all of her might. But the sensitive mother soon became aware of the stares and whispers all over again. In the street, one woman stopped her. “You should be ashamed of yourself,” she exclaimed. Brianna couldn’t handle it any longer. She needed to take action.
