The Xoloitzcuintli
The Aztecs thought the Xoloitzcuintli, also known as the Xolo or the Mexican hairless dog, to be a guide for the deceased to the underworld. This dog of the gods is a diligent watchdog and a fiercely devoted companion. This dog, whose name is pronounced “show-low-eats-QUEENT-lee,” is exceptionally intelligent and has tough, smooth skin.
