“Where’s their mother?” Kayla inquired, her voice tiny yet full of concern. The veterinarian and animal control officer exchanged looks. “Mothers are frequently left behind or worse,” the officer explained softly. Kayla’s heart fell with the thought. Erica held her warmly, sharing her daughter’s worries about the mother capybara.

A new mission
The emphasis has now switched to the welfare of the infant capybaras. “We’ll make sure they get the best care and try to find them a good home,” stated the animal control officer. Kayla looked up with determination in her eyes. “We want to help,” she announced. Erica nodded in agreement, eager to support her daughter’s new endeavor. Their fortuitous finding has turned into a dedication to these unique species.
