According to a myth handed down through the generations, seven people had to pass away before the treasure of Oak Island could be found. To this day, six people have lost their lives in the pursuit of it, with just a little more than a century passing between the first and sixth deaths. Maynard Kaiser lost his footing and tumbled into the infamous Money Pit after finding a sheepskin with a mysterious message written on it. There was no doubt about it; Rick and Marty Lagina were well aware of this curse, and they had treated it with utmost reverence throughout their entire lives.
