The Worst TikTok Trends Ever

Published on 12/19/2021

Since it’s inception in 2016, TikTok has only risen in popularity to the point where it is one of the best-performing social networking platforms right now. The trends never seem to stop and the bigger the app gets, the more people use it! Many people have even found fame through TikTok, and many existing celebs are avid users too. Will Smith (@willsmith) for example, is the sixth most followed account on TikTok. Other celebrities like Khabane Lame (@khaby.lame) and Bella Poarch (@bellapoarch) are just two of the examples of success through the app, having developed their own trend. Trends come and go, where some are super addictive; some are downright annoying and should best be left in the past! Do you even remember these annoying trends?

Oh I’m Curious/You Serious?

This trend actually started off quite well. It showed people and the celebrities that they supposedly looked like. Everyone was involved, showing the dead or alive celebrities that they resembled, but eventually the trend declined when what started off as a bit of fun turned into hot people trying to resemble themselves to celebrities they just don’t look like. Take this woman, she doesn’t actually look like Hannah Montana just because she is blonde!

The “Like For Part 2” TikToker

This one is a little more general. There has probably come a time when you are sat watching a TikTok. The TikToker has actually somehow managed to peak your interest enough that you want to find out what happened in the end. Even now, they have extended it to a maximum of three minutes, which is more than long enough to tell a story. Many people take advantage, however. A person’s popularity depends on likes, comments and views. So naturally, if they can drag it over a few videos, they will get better statistics, even though they are wasting the viewer’s time. Annoying, isn’t it?

The Guy Who Sits There Pointing

This type of TikToker is the laziest on the whole app. Essentially, they take content for elsewhere, for example a popular movie. The viewer naturally wants to watch what happens in the clip and will continue to view for that sole purpose. The guy pointing will take all the credit, however. Just stand out of the way, man!

Rolling Down In the Deep

For sure, you know this one. You know the tune that goes, “What you know about rollin’ down in the deep? When your brain goes numb, you can call that mental freeze’. If any of the videos even get that far. You may have also seen parody videos where a person will ask “What you know about Roland down in the deep?”, probably in some pool setting. These videos aren’t so bad. It’s the ones where the random TikTok men will just rip off their shirts as the beat changes. This went further with it being so overplayed, even grandmothers on Facebook were using it to cover their cleaning tutorials!

Thirst Traps

When did TikTok become so dominated by thirst traps? What was once just a place to blow off steam with some fun dance trends has quickly become ThirstTok! People take any trend and use it to show off their assets, shaking things around. They know that this is the reason for many of their likes, especially if it blows up. They just don’t care. I guess anything to get to the top…

The Couple Prank Videos That Are Totally Fake

Lets be real, nobody wants to see your fake couple prank videos. That isn’t to say a prank on a significant other can’t be funny, but if you seem to produce new content with this theme every day, it is quite obvious your videos are fake. After some time, the partner simply must be aware that pranks are coming. If it is a couple’s account too, how can you share an account pranking each other? Also, sometimes the acting is just awful. Do something else with your time! Major cringe.

Fake Storyteller

This happens more than you think. Sometimes a TikToker will try and draw you in with a long story that might sound super interesting, to the point where you need to know what happens in the end. Either they can brutally tell you how it’s fake and they pranked you, or they can drag it over several videos only for a boring weak ending that renders the whole story meaningless. Annoying.

Robot Voiceover

This one is really annoying. We get that people don’t want to use their voice because they might find it annoying, but trust us; that Siri-like robot voice is way worse. Please, if you’re going to need to read something off of the screen, use your own voice.

Personal Challenge Videos

So you’re doing a 75 day health kick challenge? That’s great, for real. Getting fit mentally and physically is no laughing matter. What is annoying however, is documenting every step, needlessly. Why film yourself for an hour doing your job to play it on fast-mode, or film yourself working out in the gym. Is this actually to document your personal goals, or is it a way of flaunting and showing off? Think about which is your real goal before doing so. If you’re doing it for the likes and the clout, just don’t; or if it’s one quite like the one pictured below, which is even less respectable…
