Katie Holmes allegedly signed a contract to get sole custody
It certainly looked surprising that Tom was prepared to accept Katie receiving exclusive custody given the apparent affection he had formerly showed for his daughter. But there might be a good explanation why he was purportedly content for his daughter to grow up without him. Holmes reportedly agreed to a contract during the divorce. In an interview with Us Weekly, Tony Ortega stated that Katie was granted exclusive custody as long as she paid a fee for it. She seems to have paid a price for not being able to criticize the Church of Scientology. Despite her purported concerns, the actress has been silent in the years afterward, suggesting that the contract rumors may be accurate.
She apparently wasn’t allowed to date anyone publicly for five years
It appears that there is more to this story than Katie simply remaining silent regarding the Church of Scientology, assuming the contract is real. An other said aspect of it was that the actress was prohibited from openly dating for five years following the divorce. During that time, Katie was free to date; she simply needed to keep them discreet. Presumably, she did this to keep her ex-husband from seeing her poorly. Again, considering how private her alleged connection with Jamie Foxx was, it appears that this could have been the case. In 2013, rumors about their relationship started to circulate, although the two were quite reticent to discuss it. In any case, it appears that the two are no longer together.
