Although she wasn’t the class teacher of one of the children, she did hear about the incident because words quickly got around at this school. And although most of the teachers remained uninvolved, Mrs. Miller had greater courage. The teacher just wanted to help, so she did the unexpected.

She had a lengthy conversation with the children and she decided that the best thing to do afterward was to summon the parents. In fact, both showed up at school. The teacher had very good access to the parents and together they could talk about this sensitive situation for more than two hours.
