“You don’t know I’m allergic to turmeric?” she yelled, hurling the book at him. “Get out, now!” She motioned to the door and stood aside to allow him to pass. Eric realized he couldn’t talk himself out of this dilemma any longer, so he stood up and walked away.

She never wanted children
The worst part of the problem was Eric’s knowledge that Lily did not want to have children. She had made that very apparent to him from the time things between them became serious. She had asked him if he was still alright with it immediately before their marriage, and he was. In retrospect, that could have been a lie.
