Other parents did not think that it was appropriate for Kelsey to have highlights in the first place. They also said that they would probably be just as upset if they found out that their child had a makeover without talking to them about it. Still, none of them thought that Schaffen should have cut off her hair.

Some thought that 13 years old was too young for hair dyes. They said that they would let it go on Halloween, but only if their kids used wigs and wash-out hairsprays. The more liberal ones said that it was not an issue at all since it was temporary. However, the surprise haircut did not receive any support.
