Malcolm took a deep breath and decided to be more patient. He attempted to engage Laura in conversation, hoping that a friendly exchange would persuade her to step aside. He asked her about her day, and her travel plans, and even cracked a few jokes. Laura, on the other hand, remained obstinate, refusing to engage in any form of conversation. She was a tenacious woman.

Malcolm’s patience was wearing thin as the minutes passed. The thought of not getting his upgraded seat and the promised comfort gnawed at him. He couldn’t figure out why Laura was being so stubborn and unconcerned about the inconvenience she was causing. The other passengers’ whispers and glances only added to his growing annoyance.
