Horrible House

It would be the first house James and his wife, Mandy, would purchase. Eventually, they would buy the house because they had both saved up enough money. It was their ideal home, in their opinion. It was roomy and included a backyard for their future children. However, they were about to find out that their ideal home was the stuff of nightmares.

A Realized Dream

After five years of marriage, James and Mandy Fisher finally purchased their ideal house. They made the decision to move their dog, Scout, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Finding something they could live with was a long process. But Mandy lost control of her excitement when they entered the house. However, the couple’s happiness would soon give way to sadness.

Transfer Day

James and Mandy had packed up their things from their rented apartment for their move. It was a moving day. They were ecstatic to be heading out. Even though they only had a few boxes, they made a promise to furnish their new home with everything they loved and desired in order to create a place they would always treasure. They noticed something strange as soon as they entered the front door.

So Much Room

The amount of space they had astounded them. There were two stories, with all of the bedrooms located on the second floor. The living room, kitchen, and home office were all located on the ground floor. Mandy was ecstatic to have a kitchen large enough to prepare all of their favorite dishes at last. Then she became aware of something odd.

Kitchen Surface

In the kitchen was a floor hatch. When the realtor showed them around the house, she had not noticed it before. The presence of a table above it might have caused it. But then she noticed that a lock had been used to bolt it shut. They decided to try and open it to see what was underneath the kitchen floor after she showed James.

One More Mysterium

Mandy noticed something behind an old cabinet that the previous owner had left behind. Scout began growling, clearly uncomfortable about it. According to the realtor, the home was owned by an elderly woman who had no heirs to inherit it. Although the antique cupboard didn’t look too bad, Mandy thought it could use a new varnish coat. She made a curious discovery after gently moving the cupboard.

An Aged Home

It was obvious to Mandy that this was an old house. It was kept up nicely, but it still required occasional touch-ups. There were some floorboards that required sanding and refinishing. Mandy knew the house needed work, even though she loved its vintage Victorian appearance. Particularly after she discovered what was hidden behind the old cabinet.

A Conundrum

It was obviously empty, so she easily moved it a small distance. With a slight push, she was able to reveal it. An entrance. The cupboard had a locked door behind it. Why was this door pushed against by the cupboard? She had never seen anything like it before. She was aware that she needed to solve this mystery.

Not So Lucky

Mandy made several attempts to find the key to the enigmatic kitchen door during the ensuing weeks. She even searched the antique cupboard’s drawers, but she couldn’t find anything. The cold weather forced them to postpone the small renovations they had planned, even though they had already moved in. That’s when the nightmares would start.

Lastly, A Little Sleep

After spending the entire day moving and rearranging their furniture, Mandy and James were finally getting settled. Mandy was eager to get into bed since it was snowing outside. James had turned on the heater so their room would be warm for the evening. After they were comfortable, Mandy opened her book and read a few chapters. A smell wafted into their bedroom at that moment, causing them both to sit up.

A Putrid Odor

They had to flee the room due to the strong, foul stench. Mandy went to the kitchen and got some air fresheners to spray around. They could not possibly sleep in there anymore. The odor persisted. James was curious about its origin. They made the decision to move into a different bedroom.

Transfer

After they took their seats in the other bedroom, James turned on the heater to warm the space once more. Scout remained outside the door, refusing to enter. The smell came back just as Mandy closed her book and got into bed. Better than before. That’s when they realized there was a serious problem. They were dealing with a serious odor issue.

To Determine The Issue

James knew he had a difficult task ahead of him the following day. Every time he turned on the heating system, it seemed like the smell was getting worse. It was in the guest bedroom in addition to the master bedroom. He needed to determine if the entire house was affected or just those rooms. James readied himself for the impending events.

The Lookout Starts

James needed to test the house’s entire heating system. In the other bedroom they hadn’t used, he turned it on. He tested the home office and the living room as well. The smell seemed to be a problem throughout the entire house. He had the urge to demolish everything in order to determine what was causing it. However, he was certain it was something awful.

Looking Into the Vents

It was time to examine every vent. It was just a matter of unscrewing them all to see what was inside as it was present in every room. He began in the master bedroom. Turning the screw, he shined his flashlight inside. Nothing unusual caught his eye. After that, he looked through every other room and saw that the living room was missing one. He wondered where the smell was coming from.
