Jack stood silently in front of the old, dusty car parked in his father’s garage. The 1969 Chevy Impala, a deep forest green with years of wear, had been his father’s pride and joy. Now, it was Jack’s, inherited after his father’s sudden passing. Jack never cared much for the car, seeing it as just another relic of his father’s obsession with preserving the past. But as he ran his hands across its hood, a strange sense of duty tugged at him.

A Surprise in the Glovebox
Determined to at least take the car for a spin, Jack opened the door and sat in the leather seat, cracked from years of use. He popped open the glovebox to check for insurance papers, but instead, a small yellowed envelope fell into his lap. His name was scrawled across the front in his father’s familiar handwriting. Jack’s heart skipped a beat as he picked it up, suddenly feeling the weight of emotions he hadn’t expected.
