A Lucky Find
Malachi, the youngest child, was out one day towards the outside of the town looking for glass bottles to sell for recycling. He came across something shiny and dark jutting out of a storm drain while he was sifting through the vegetation at the edge of a road. It was a wallet, he discovered upon closer inspection. The child turned to see whether anyone else had seen what he had, but he was by himself.

Astonished that the wallet hadn’t dropped all the way in to be washed away, Malachi cautiously fished it out of the drain opening. He surmised that the leather was probably brand-new based on how clean and polished it was. Perhaps he could sell it and get enough cash to provide dinner for the family tonight? Yet the little boy gasped as he opened the wallet.
