Sean’s friendly demeanor made him a perfect fit for a variety of jobs. He was cast as Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings franchise in 2001. Sean portrayed a devoted companion who embarked on a perilous quest through Middle Earth. Sean and the rest of the cast were nominated for several accolades for their roles in the blockbuster flicks. Sean, who appears to be typecast as the “good guy,” previously played Bob Newby in Stranger Things for ten episodes.

Sean Astin made sure he obtained an education in between auditions and filming, despite growing up in the spotlight. In addition to master lessons at the Stella Adler Conservatory, the actor attended Crossroads High School for the Arts in Los Angeles, California. Astin went on to the University of California, Los Angeles, to study English and History after graduating. Graduating from a renowned school with a double degree and a cum laude is no easy feat, especially when you’re also working as an actor!
