Sean’s acting career continued despite his parents’ divorce and the discovery that his biological father might actually be Desi Arnaz, Jr. In the same year, he made his big-screen debut as Mikey Walsh in The Goonies. Sean Astin landed one of his most notable parts in the 1993 picture Rudy, in which he played Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. The story follows a young teenager who desires to be a famous football player and pursues his ambition of playing for Notre Dame. Sean was an easy choice for the part because his personality matched that of the real-life Rudy, with whom he collaborated to make the picture accurate.
